Where Is SuperScreen Made? [It’s Not In America]

SuperScreen has become a popular product over the years known for its longevity and durability on screen enclosures ( just Google Superscreen Reviews ) .  Whereas some screen meshes used in Florida only have a lifespan of a mere 3-5 years, SuperScreen had a manufacturer’s material warranty of 10 years.  Indeed it was (and is) a superior product to standard fiberglass screens.  The basis for such, is that it is made from a high quality polyester fabric, which is naturally stronger than fiberglass, and doesn’t deteriorate as rapidly.

Superscreen was once made by Twitchell here in the United States.  The keyword there is ‘once’.  This was a popular selling point as naturally we want to contribute to our american economy.  These days, Superscreen is no longer made in the USA.  Nope not any more.

Many homeowners, still think Superscreen is made in the USA.  Many contractors still pitch it as ‘Made In America’, but that is no longer true.  I’ve been unable to get exact details on where it is made now, but this insect mesh is likely made in China, Sri Lanka, or Mexico (or a combination of the 3) where fabric manufacturers are prevalent.

What does this mean for you and your pool cage or screen enclosure?

Great question.  First of all, the material base and manufacturing process probably hasn’t changed.  The same process could be applied anywhere in the world.  The warranty still remains the same, so Superscreen is still a sound product

From a consumer perspective, you know longer have the value of contributing to the United States, and the brand name isn’t worth paying for.  There are a couple other competitors to Superscreen out there that offer a similar polyester product (ie. it is probably coming out of the same factory), and warranty without the brand name premium.  My suggestion would be to go with a polyester mesh that your contractor will offer to you at the best price.

I can build it, and I can help you get the patio enclosure you want! I got my start in the Florida patio industry back in the 70s as a young general laborer looking for something to make a few bucks. At the time I never thought it would end up as my career. Over the years I grew beyond the laborer position, becoming a foreman, superintendent, and then into executive management for some of the largest patio contractors, and material vendors. Now into retirement and slightly bored, I offer consulting services to new and existing contractors, and publish this website to help the people who love their patio's and screen enclosures the most - YOU!

    • You could do that, but it sounds pointless. Like getting 1 tire really nice on your car, and then using something low grade for the other 3.
