When it comes to screen enclosures, they are as unique as the person who owns them. There are very few limits when it comes to the design of the enclosure. Similar to that of a home, they may all have a similar base, but after that, they each possess their own unique characteristics. It’s amazing to see how creative people can get! Some choose the structures to mimic the shape of their homes, add knee walls or picture screens, while others choose to add unobstructed viewing windows. There are also a variety of roof styles to choose from including Dome shapes, Mansard, Gable and Shed. Aside from the benefits screen enclosures provide such as keeping children safe, lowering the cost of the pool cleaning, eliminating bugs, debris and harmful UV sun rays, they also provide beauty to the existing home.

We took a tour through Orlando, Florida, to see how what we could find. We all know Orlando for its magnificent theme park attractions and grandeur hotels, it seems that some of the screen enclosures we found here were just as majestic! Here are our top 5 favorite enclosures
in the city:

This beautiful enclosure exemplifies the magnitude of the home in which it was built on. The height and width both exceed average, with a finished product of perfection matching the stone flooring and fountains installed for the perfect outdoor Floridian ambiance.

This project and all others in the post were completed by US Aluminum.  This wasn’t intentional, but their portfolio of work topped this for the area!

The owners of this perfectly designed enclosure chose to match the structures beams to the exterior architecture of the home, using concrete block construction (this type of work is not always done by screen enclosure contractors and may require a general contractor.

Always a classy and elegant decision making the two separate structures of home and porch intertwined as one. This is not seen often, as it adds quite an additional expense to the construction, but when it is, it is beautiful and extremely appealing to the eye.

Yes, here we have a screen enclosure so grandeur in size, it is home to 4 extremely tall palm trees. If you blink, you might mistake this residential home as one of Orlando’s many exclusive resorts, in fact, these people have built themselves a mini paradise setting! Getting an enclosure of this height into this setting likely would require a crane to hoist the beams into place.

Here we have another example of a homeowner who chose to match their screen enclosure’s beams to that of the architecture of the home. It has been designed so perfectly that is as if the pool is enclosed by freestanding columns. If you look closely, you will see that the structure was designed so that it provides an avenue of shade along the perimeter.

These home owners spared no expense when designing this enclosure. By expanding the ceiling of the screen porch up beyond the roof of their already tall home, they have added even more “living” space to call their own! The openness of the structure allows for the beautiful view of the back yard to be seen from any window of the home.

With the beautiful Florida weather, screen enclosures are a blessing to have. They allow families to partake in outdoor activities in a comfortable, safe and private environment.

We did say 5 but this one deserves a mention! The sheer size make it a difficult builder for most companies. The change in eave-height (roof line) further make it a bit more complicated ensuring that all the self mating beams mesh up correctly.. If you look to the top you’ll notice knee braces in place for increased wind capacity in our area..

This excellent screen enclosure was built by Dulando Screen in the Orlando area.

About the Author

I can build it, and I can help you get the patio enclosure you want! I got my start in the Florida patio industry back in the 70s as a young general laborer looking for something to make a few bucks. At the time I never thought it would end up as my career. Over the years I grew beyond the laborer position, becoming a foreman, superintendent, and then into executive management for some of the largest patio contractors, and material vendors. Now into retirement and slightly bored, I offer consulting services to new and existing contractors, and publish this website to help the people who love their patio's and screen enclosures the most - YOU!
