Here in the the Tampa Bay area, screen enclosures are plentiful. They are an everyday luxury that many of us take for granted. We are able to enjoy the outdoors in a bug free, clean environment, and we never stop to contemplate life without this commodity. It saves our skin from harmful UV rayss, keeps out the critters, and allows us to host barbeques and parties in a protected space. Here are some of the Bay’s award winning and most creative screen enclosure designs. They have not only provided all the aforementioned benefits, but provided homeowners with added value to their property, and are extremely eye appealing.

This project was completed by Tampa Screens & Aluminum.

Water view homes are abundant in Florida, and designing the screen enclosure to capture it in full, without the cage like obstruction is always a great idea. These homeowners knew exactly how to take full advantage of their beautiful backyard view and designed the enclosure with an open viewing panel, creating a more natural feel to the porch area.  Check out the posts which are wrapped with a beautiful faux column for a visual architectural effect which differentiates from the typical pool cages.

This could the most unique pool cage ever, as it completely eliminates any conventional form of structuring a screen enclosure with an aluminum base, and uses an extension of the homes building material of cement and wood.  While the wood can be extremely unique and beautiful, the one thing it lacks compared to metal is longevity.  Here it Florida, the wood can dry and rot, making it an impractical solution as it ages.

The designers of this structure combined two amazing elements into this screen enclosure consisting of wide viewing panels and the addition of mediterranean columns in place of beams. Both make for an innovative and beautiful porch setting enjoyable and serene..

This structure built by Hendry Aluminum (based in Fort Myers, but may build large screen enclosures elsewhere in the state) uses a patented ‘Mega-view’ connection to achieve larger and wider spans.

The majestic size of this screen enclosure is mesmerizing, and is the main reason this amazing structure made our list of top 5 in the area. If you look closely, you will see just how much higher the porch rises over the tall palm trees. It is tall, and getting this screen enclosure constructed certainly required a crane. Along with its lovely fountain piece, it looks like a model home right out of a magazine.

This homeowner chose glass enclosures over the standard screen for personal preference, however, either one would suffice with this structure. It is a lovely room and deserves recognition as its creativity in design is unique and extremely classy. They bypassed the standard aluminum screen enclosure structure and went with a base that matched and mimicked the base of their home. This is a great example of infusing both outdoor and indoor living, allowing all the benefits of the outdoors to be enjoyed, safely inside. Its important to note, glass enclosures of this size are likely to cost upwards of $200,000.

The contractor of this project is currently unknown, the image was found on ultra-screen.com, a brand of polyester screen.

About the Author

I can build it, and I can help you get the patio enclosure you want! I got my start in the Florida patio industry back in the 70s as a young general laborer looking for something to make a few bucks. At the time I never thought it would end up as my career. Over the years I grew beyond the laborer position, becoming a foreman, superintendent, and then into executive management for some of the largest patio contractors, and material vendors. Now into retirement and slightly bored, I offer consulting services to new and existing contractors, and publish this website to help the people who love their patio's and screen enclosures the most - YOU!

  • Looking for a detail oriented screen enclosure co for our historic front porch. Gutters would be welcome as well. Quality products, detailed installation a must. We don’t want to do this the first time, never mind a second time
