A Simple Patio Screen In

Written By Kenneth Wilson  |  1 Comments

Many freshly built brand new homes in  Florida lack any screen what on the patio what so-ever.  This makes the patio space nearly unusable unless you like getting attacked by insects.  Screening it in with screen walls and aluminum frame is the solution and is usually one of the first modifications made many new home purchasers.  In industry terms we would call i an ‘Undertruss Patio Screen – In’ because it is under the truss roof of the home.

This project below by Gulf Coast Aluminum is very straight forward and typical of what many new home purchasers would want.  Aluminum is framed around the openings with screen ppulled tight to keep the bugs out.  A basic screen door is installed for access and voila, your patio is big free.

Undertruss patio screen in’s generally do not require a permit (do your own research, because some locations do require a permit) and can typically be done in one a day.  A project like this would run about $2,000.

About the Author

I can build it, and I can help you get the patio enclosure you want! I got my start in the Florida patio industry back in the 70s as a young general laborer looking for something to make a few bucks. At the time I never thought it would end up as my career. Over the years I grew beyond the laborer position, becoming a foreman, superintendent, and then into executive management for some of the largest patio contractors, and material vendors. Now into retirement and slightly bored, I offer consulting services to new and existing contractors, and publish this website to help the people who love their patio's and screen enclosures the most - YOU!
